Miami Grand Prix 2025 Qualifying
Qualifying Report and Analysis
Max Verstappen took pole position for the 2025 Miami Grand Prix with a blistering lap of 1:26.204, but he had to fight tooth and nail to beat a flying Lando Norris. The top 4 were separated by just 0.171s, making this one of the closest qualifying sessions of the season so far.
Piastri’s Q2 lap was better than the Q3 one. You can see the fastest lap for every driver below for the Miami Grand Prix 2025 Qualifying:

Top Speed Breakdown – Who’s Fastest in a Straight Line?
Surprisingly, Mercedes topped the speed charts at 341 km/h, even though their overall lap time didn’t translate into top grid positions at the Miami Grand Prix 2025 Qualifying.
Close behind:
- Red Bull & Kick Sauber: 340 km/h
- Ferrari & Racing Bulls: 339 km/h
- McLaren: slowest at 336 km/h, yet both drivers qualified in the top 3!
This confirms that aero efficiency and braking were more important than raw top speed at Miami.

Telemetry Analysis – VER vs NOR
Looking at the lap traces of Verstappen (blue) vs Norris (orange):
- Norris gained time on the straights and through flowing corners, especially sector 2.
- Verstappen was cleaner on the brakes and had better rotation in tight corners (especially the final sector).
- Both cars were very evenly matched on throttle application — McLaren’s chassis is seriously strong this year.
This was less about raw power and more about execution under pressure.
